¡Bienvenidos!
Welcome
to my pages here at Central.
Feel free to call me at any time or to email me
if you have a question or problem you want to discuss, or if you
would simply like to learn more about my teaching approach. I am generally available before and after school, and I try to
return email and and phone messages promptly.
These pages are an unending work in progress!
The individual class pages contain course descriptions, expectations of
students and a copy of the syllabus. In addition, they include
links to the weekly agendas, or class calendar, on which students and
parents can see the assignments and tentative schedules for the upcoming
week. Students are held responsible for the information included in
the syllabus and on the agendas. Students with access to the
internet are expected to check these pages weekly and to complete all
assignments. I will provide one hard copy of the syllabus to each
student the first day of class. I will also have hard copies of the
weekly agenda for those students who do not have internet access.
Departmental changes for 2011-2012!
Levels III & IV classes in Spanish, French and German are now designated
as Honors courses and students must meet certain standards to move on to
these levels. In addition, this fall we are offering our first-ever
Honors sections at Level II in all languages. Although there
were not enough students enrolled in Honors Level I in any of the
languages to justify having separate Honors sections, students in Level I
will be able to earn Honors credit if they maintain a class GPA of at
least 92% and earn a 90% or better on the CAP exam.
All Honors classes are weighted.
Finally, this will be the last year that AP Spanish and AP French will be
offered as a Level V class. As of 2012-2013 Level IV will become AP
in both Spanish and French. If student enrollment warrants it, there
will also be an
AP German class. This change was decided upon to allow those
students unable to start a language in junior high to complete the
AP course before graduation.
